KALIMERA from paradise
Blue Palace Resort
We arrived late (or actually – very early morning) at the Heraklion airport in Greece, to be more specific around 3am. Our location, if you already found out by the airport name, was the gorgeous island of Crete! Waiting for us was a private car which looked more of a party van (champagne, colourful lights and candy)…All of the things I like, you can have me at Hello with a glass of champagne but oh god I was so tired to even get started. All I remember is that I totally crashed and woke up in the beautiful Blue Palace Resort. Was I dreaming? :)
After a long and well-deserved sleep, I got awakened by a ray of light coming through the window. I blinked a few times and was up on two feet running to open the curtain. I found a beautiful private pool, an ever so blue ocean view and Spinalonga island in the distance (which will soon be on the List of World Heritage of Unesco, promise I will give you more information on this gorgeous island in a minute!).
I ordered some breakfast in bed and enjoyed it in my terrace. The private pool was so inviting that I had to come closer to the border to dip my feet in. I took my fruit platter and the magazine closer to my reach and lingered on for a bit. What a perfect morning! After this I got changed to meet the other girlies for a tour around Blue Palace Resort.
One of the days we took a boat around the island which has a beautiful landscape and rolling mountains, so pleasant to the eye! As we were sailing away the waters were even more blue and enchanting. We anchored between two islands to protect against the wind for our wine tasting! Cheese, olives and bread served to complement the Cretan wine! Later on, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at the Asia Blue.
Apart of this amazing experience, I also got to do diving for the very first time! I was so excited but scared – a mixed of emotions… First divers will probably relate to this. It is such a strange feeling to think you can breathe under the water, isn’t it? But once you get used to it everything is so amazing and incredible that you will forget about it! If you are planning to do it at the Blue Palace Resort I strongly recommend that you take a boat and do it a little bit further out for a nicer experience and prettier corals!
Relaxing time and views!
Next day we went to explore the Spinalonga – Beautiful island! Today, the uninhabited island is a very popular tourist attraction in Crete, you guys must go! Back in the days, the place was a leper colony. Worthy to get to know the history of the island, it is like a ghost island with buildings but so so pretty and so much history. Nowadays, Spinalonga is known for its small pebble beaches and shallow waters.
I had the best of time whilst there, everything was so perfect! From the hotel outstanding service, views, spa and to be able to enjoy all of it with great girlfriends… Definitely a trip to remember! My favourite memory was to have dinner at the Blue Door which is a typical Greek Taverna with a spectacular beach-front location under the stars. We had the pleasure to be joined by the founders and architects of Blue Palace Resort as well as Melissa Odabash and the founders of the Mystique Hotel in Santorini. They were so welcoming and the food was so incredible, I will never forget how well Greece welcomed me!
