Camila’s Bride Diary: Our wedding in Florence – Part 1

26th September of 2017, on a beautiful summer day in Florence at 4pm I walked down the aisle to the man of my life. There he was standing with a smile on his face and a tear rolling down. As I walked in I saw the most important people of my life, family, friends reunited to celebrate with us the most important day of our lives. One and each of the faces I have saved in my memory just like in a movie. It was probably 60 seconds, arm to arm with my dad, I just wanted to make this moment eternal. It was so beautiful, so special and one in a lifetime experience. How to even describe it? Blessed by God under one of the oldest churches in Florence Chiesa di Ognissanti and witnessed by our loved ones. We said yes to a life together and to forever be there for each other. Best decision we’ve ever made.

The location we chose for our destination wedding was Florence, a place we both have been and love, and not to be unfair to either side, I am Brazilian and Anthony is English (although he does have a family foot in Italy). We had 165 guests flying over from all over the world and we are so lucky to have them all in our lives. The wedding was at the beautiful Villa di Maiano organised by Juli and her team at the Savvy Events Studio. The decoration was classic with green and white palette of colours and the project was done by the master Vincenzo Dascanio. The most spectacular flower arrangements were the wisteria and eucalyptus hanging over our table with low bouquets of creamy flowers and golden candelabras.

Let’s try to rewind from the very first moment on that day. I woke up and jumped out of the bed to go over the balcony. Anthony stayed at the West In across the piazza as it is a tradition to spend the night apart. From my window of St Regis hotel I could see the church where we would be married later in the afternoon. The bell rings and it is Nina, my bridesmaid, she comes bright and early and we have an amazing breakfast together. We were speaking about many things and how beautiful last night was by the Ponte Vecchio and our first event of the wedding. Then slowly I am joined by my other bridesmaids – Lais, Carol, Priscilla, Emma and Maria. We have a little meeting together and run through the schedule, they make me change the whole thing by one hour earlier: “Let’s be honest Camila you need more time!” They know me well enough… and they were right! Everything run extremely well and we were unbelievably on time!

My make-up was done by Tom Ford who flew from the UK for my big day and I feel so honoured to be able to work with such amazing professionals in my career. I couldn’t have had a better make- up artist, thank you Lori Woodhouse for my DREAM bridal make-up! My hair was done by Fernanda and Leticia from FHB salon also based in London, I’ve been with the girls for over 5 years and only them look after my hair and wouldn’t be different on my wedding day!
